Building A Foundation
Our objective in pre-kindergarten is to continue to build on the solid foundation established in the previous year(s) of preschool. We will continue to train these little people to focus, to listen to and obey instructions, and to be able to follow 2-3 directions in sequence. We encourage students to complete an assignment in a reasonable time period and to work hard and take pride in a job well done. We teach classroom manners such as raising one’s hand before speaking. We train children to look others in the eye and to speak in complete sentences.

Adventures In Learning
In teaching phonics, our goal is that each student will know the sounds of all consonant letters and short vowel sounds. We teach them to recognize beginning and ending sounds in words and to begin to blend sounds. We introduce CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words.
In Math, students are learning to count beyond 30 and to count backwards from 15. They are learning to recognize and know the value of numerals 1- 20 in and out of sequence. Students will be taught to write numerals 1 – 20. We will also continue to reinforce concepts such as comparison, position, patterning, and one to one matching.
We fine tune our fine motor skills as we continue to practice holding a pencil and scissors correctly, coloring inside the lines using realistic colors, drawing, cutting on a line, and following mazes. Students also begin our handwriting program and learn to copy from the board.

Hiding God’s Word and His Truths in our hearts
Spiritually, we pray that our students will know that God’s Word is Truth and without error. We teach that God is Three in One: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Children will learn about the attributes of God and about Jesus’ birth, sinless life, death, resurrection, ascension and return. They will continue to hide God’s word in their heart as they memorize Scripture.
